Hi all,

I have recently inherited a fishing boat (Warrior) boat from my dad who passed away in february.

We are unable to carry on using the boat and so would like to sell it privately. As I have never sold a boat before I am unsure about what documents I need to provide/ request and how to handle the registration of the boat?

Any information or links would be very helpful.

Thanks

Proof of owership would usually be requested by a prospective buyer along with service records for the outboard, operation manuals for any electronics etc....
I know the Warrior models very well, a great day boat.
Might I suggest you take a look at this website to use an an advertising meduim....

Have sold a couple on this site over the years, and a good place to catch a prospective buyer.
Good luck, Rob.

In most cases you will have an MCA Bill of Sale with the boat - that said there's no specific requirement for one - nor is there a requirement to register it. Warrior may be able to help if you don't have any paperwork at all. That said I wouldn't worry too much about it with a boat of this value - pop it on eBay or BoatsandOutboards and it will sell easily enough at the right price.

You could also contact the manufacturer (http://www.warriorboats.co.uk ) . A friend has had 2 warriors. he p/ex'ed the first boat against a new one, I believe, through Warrior Boats. If you contact them they might have someone looking and be able to help you through the paperwork.. which in all honesty for a small boat like this is not onerous at all.

You will get good advice on here but check back with a reputable broker. All the best to you and your family

I have a Warrior 165 that I bought off Ebay. I would place a classified ad there, costs about £20 for a month. I certainly would not use a broker, can't imagine many would be interested in a boat worth probably less than £10K, and also why pay say £1K to sell when there's always a demand for a good one. EBay certainly provides the widest audience.
