Ah! Semiramis is a slow motorboat so we consider wind force and sea state (or lack of) rather than direction.

Sorry to hear of your problem, but as others have said, I would deffinately recommend bringing her back to the UK. Canals would be a good option, or an empty returning transporter will probably get her to the channel for a reasonable price.

I'd agree with other posters that you're most unlikely to sell the boat, where it is, for anything like its value to you.

However, given the reasons for you having to return full-time to the UK, it's probable that the reasons for staying, though they'll be indeterminable, may not be interminable.

Bringing the boat back to the UK is probably not feasible through the Canal du Midi as it's now too shallow (even allowing for the fact that the Chieftan is a bilge-keeler), which now has parts down to 1.4m.

Probably the best chance is to try and find an empty return, from a UK-based haulier - the Chieftan will fit on a normal artic trailer - though most of them manage to find return loads, this is likely to be less pricey than a professional yacht-delivery.
Guesstimate return load £800 - specialist £1500.

You could try and get it done as a long-vac job, if you know any university undergraduates, who'd like a cheap holiday through France - advertise through Student Unions -now is the time to do it.

Good luck, whatever you do!!

I have lived on my westerly( 1978vintage) in the Med for many years, not everyone is looking for a new yacht, infact people look for strength, durability, value for money etc, plus they will pay to register under a spanish flag, so to answer your question, sell in the Med,
