has anyone had from their original bow roller a launching bow roller extension to facilitate dropping a rocna anchor ect?

I had a roller made to suit a Rocna. It can be seen here:https://www.dropbox.com/s/o1fitfzoi4ay0a4/Roller.JPG?dl=0

The picture is for the purpose of showing the fitting if the bowsprit but you can see the idea. It is a Rocna 20kg and you are welcome to the drawings if that would be helpful.

Also had a new bow roller made for a Rocna with a self launching flappy bit. It works really well in use and also has the added advantage of the flap grabbing the tip when the anchor is stowed and so the anchor is firmly locked onto the bow roller when at sea. No pics readily at hand but can dig them out if you go down this route.

Cannot understand why you need to alter the bow roller when you could buy a perfectly good alternative anchor and save money overall, for example Spade or if you wait for user reports, maybe Vulcan.

I fitted an Anchorlift (90103) bow roller for my rocna 15kg. Works very well although due to the positioning of the forestay, pulpit, fairleads and so on I ended up mounting it on a block of teak to lift it up half an inch or so above the deck. I expect this is marginally useful to help spread loads so no bad thing although looks a bit strange. Anyway the self launching pivot section at the front of the roller has a metal hoop over it which grips the anchoe shank very well when stowed which is definitely good. I need to come up with a custom was to hold down the tail of the shank though. The roller has two convenient holes but they are too low to allow a straight through pin to fit.

PM me if photos would be helpful.

That is my plan, just haven't got around to it yet :-) Using a bit of cord instead until I do.

I subsequently thought, a bit of heavy duty bungee, in a short bit of hose pipe, and a hook

These narrow shanked anchors, most, or all, of the new ones also roll from side to side on the bow roller (which must wear the roller) and needs the same solution.
