Warren, being 2 years into a three year project, Van de stadt 40, Steel. Hull & Deck by Morvoren. I suggest that you would probably get greater satisfaction by fitting out a Hull & deck project, than starting from scratch..and as there are a number of uncompleted projects around, you may well find that the price differentiation between building/ buying is not as great as you think. Whatever you decide to do...the best of luck...The 3rd year is the hardest!!...Ian Nicholson got that right!
Over a period of time I have noticed that self builders fall into three categories: <ul type="square"> [*]Those who start a self build which starts off in a great flurry of activity which slowly peters out over a varying period of time and eventually ends up as an abandoned heap( this is by far the largest group) [*]Those who successfully build a boat sail it for about half a season decide it isn't what they want, sell it and start another build project(The hobby has changed from sailing to boat building) [*]Those who after a long time sailing, design their own boat, build it and then sail it till they die(This is by far the smallest group) [/list]
