I bought a name panel for my inflatable where the lettering was on an adhesive backing panel which now needs replacing. The panel had a line round the edge and the name had "T/t" in front of it. I can only find suppliers of graphics which don't have the backing panel. Anyone know who still supplies such? Thanks.

T/t may refer to the T peel test.

"T-peel tests determine the relative peel resistance of adhesive bonds between thin flexible adherends using a T-type specimen. A 'flexible' adherend is one that .."

I wonder why they couldn't print onto adhesive backed vinyl. (You can't use your computer printer because the lettering wouldn't be water proof)

The T/t will mean Tender to then the name of the host vessel.

Any vinyl sign maker should be able to provide a name with a vinyl backing.

I have one made by my local sign maker to change the registration number on my vessel.

Funky Monkey is one on line sign maker in the UK

T/t may refer to the T peel test.

It means "tender to", and is followed by the name of the yacht the dinghy belongs to. Some clubs and marinas require it to avoid a proliferation of unidentifiable semi-abandoned dinghies, and the French have a similar marking ("Ax", for "annexe") which exempts a dinghy with an outboard from having to be separately registered as a small powerboat.

It's nothing to do with ordering vinyl stickers :)

T/t does mean "tender to". Unfortunately Funkeymonkey don't do backed name plates. If anyone knows any other source I would be grateful. I guess at a pinch I could stick a patch on my self and stick the letters to that, but I would prefer a ready-made one. The old name plate has left an unsightly mark on the tube so I need to cover it up.

So where are you, if we know some one will know a sign maker near you.

Well I'm glad I discovered this site as they are far cheaper than the crowd in Sydney who quoted. I think 7 years is about as much as you can get from vinyl lettering. I figure I'll save $200+ by getting them from the UK

I used https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Custom-S...or-pre-spaced-Words-Sign-writing/232755562719 a couple of times, for the dinghy's wooden transom, a couple of paddle boards and a life buoy. Requested the unusual font we use for Belle Serene, and they matched it. Letters come pre-spaced so you don't have to worry about laying them out. Comes with instructions for preparing the surface, using masking tape to align the strip and doing the transfer. Seems to have worked very well.

Thanks Belle

I'll look at that too although I've had a row with eBay. (I was ripped off by one of their sellers and eBay didn't want to know about it so I've switched to Amazon)

I'll mock up a sign using my computer printer to make sure I get the dimensions right.

What about for curved life rings?

Ah, now that was a b***er! Yes, to do that I had to separate the letters, align each with masking tape along one edge to get the right curves, and then the masking tape ensured the letter stayed in place as I peeled off half the backing at a time and pressed it to the life ring.

Nobody seems to have picked up on the fact that the OP has an inflatable dinghy. Unless he has a rigid transom to put the name on, the fabric may well expand & contract slightly, plus it will be folded when deflated.
Has anyone considered the effect that this will have on the lettering & adhesion of the letters?
Perhaps the reason for the original backing panel was to give a better base for the individual letters. Can the OP comment?
Has he queried this with possible suppliers?
I would like to know, as I would like a similar solution for my Avon dinghy
