Surely if a drain is below the waterline then by the very nature of the term "drain" its not actually a drain!!??

It is if the bit it is draining is above the waterline.

I admitted to being GC_1 not GC1, I had to after GC1 claimed to be me on another forum.

Thanks for all the advice (and all the intereting facts about cockpit drainage!) think I will try a combo of all these - the copper pipe is a good one - allows a bit more leverage but will kink and bend before it breaks something!

Err...I have a Laguna 11.5 built by American Marine in nineteen hundred and seventy two, the cockpit drains are above the waterline......but the galley and heads sink outlets are below the waterline....... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Never been able to figure out why they did this.
