Seen anchored off Yarmouth yesterday evening

what on earth are you prattling on about (sorry to be rude) - his post wasn't a response to yours at all..........sensitive?

sorry - I retract that last bit as insensitive

No need to be sorry -- I am not sensitive to "insensitivity." Always glad to have a stimulating conversation.

A bit from the hip, but a sincere reaction to the that line of thought which holds that Abramovich has got a 400' yacht, and thus must be compensating for some kind of insecurity?

I can say that Abramovich owns about 20% of the world's proven oil reserves, and doesn't have any "insecurities" to speak of. He didn't come by those billions honestly, but that doesn't change anything.

It's like saying, Obama goes gallavanting around in a jumbo jet -- I wonder what insecurity he's making up for? You might agree, that this would be a fairly lame attitude, and the idea that Abramovich chooses his boats in order to impress the likes of you and me, is fairly ludicrous.

completely agree

sorry I jumped on your post - this one was far more constructive :)

I think there are elements of 'impress someone' in a lot of the superyachts, but Grand Bleu is very much along the lines of functionality over glitz.
