I'm in the process of re-doing the headlining (foam backed vinyl over old ply boards) on the 43 years old Rival.
I'm now wondering about a better system for fixing the curtains.
Previously used that long plastic covered spring system, that hooks to an eye each end, and is threaded through the curtain edge.
There's 6mm ply behind all the vinyl, and in some places fixing timbers that these fix to, but unlikely to be in the ideal positions.
There's a slight slope on the windows such that the curtains will naturally hang away from the non vertical "wall", with bottoms away perhaps 20-40mm. I'd previously had a second spring line to hold them against the cabin wall.

Any great suggestions?

Similar situation on our boat. Top is a track like the Silent Gliss. Bottom is an elastic loop at each corner taken to a small knob to hold it against the portlight rather than a bottom track. Simpler to make if fitting new curtains and easier to fit than a second track.

+1 on the light weight Silent Gliss track for the top

But perhaps a wire (or cord), not threaded through the curtain, but stretched across the bottom of the window to simply tuck the bottom of the curtain behind.

Top and bottom tracks can be problematic if they are not parallel, and a track at the top and holdback bars across the bottom then works well. For the latter I used teak-stained 19mm hardwood D-beading screwed to the GRP liner with long self tappers through standoffs an inch or so long cut from ca. 1cm OD aluminium tube.
