I was out doing my hour of hard rowing a day and got down to Ramsholt and decided to head for home under outboard. The string broke and being tool-less I rowed over to a classic wooden 30 footer and asked to borrow a spanner with which to remove the recoil. As I worked I learned that he was visiting the Deben from West Mersea, that his name is Anthony, that he lives in Berkhamstead - the boat had a lovely stern, carvel built I think. 30 foot. White hull.
I started the engine and it was only when I got back to waldringfield and got out of the dinghy that I felt the borrowed spanner in my pocket. . Mortified me. I went down the next day - he had gone. The harbourmaster at Ramsholt, George, said he did not take any details.
Woodbridge haven say that they do not know the man.
Please help. I would love to re-unite the spanner with its rightful owner
