Security camera question

Hi

I want to fit a security camera to our centaur. I am thinking about something small and discreet but because of the poor wifi on the marina I am looking for GPRS/Sim Card options. Can anyone recomend a good option please.

Amazon blink cameras. We have two, one under the sprayhood facing aft and another in front of it facing forward, totally exposed to the elements and salt water. Have been faultless for two years. They are powered by AA batteries, make sure you use the ‘energizer lithium’ ones which last a year. They work via a little usb powered hub that connects to your choice of wifi.

It gives a bit of peace of mind when our boat is on a swing mooring out of any other camera view.

Interesting, sadly the WiFi on our pontoon is crap. Do you know if these will work with a Sim/GPRS?

Absolutely, we have a simple 4g wifi router device which works fine with it.

If you do consider them then you do not need the subscription they offer, that is just to store recorded clips not needed for live view.

I am using Eufy cameras on my properties and on the boat. I have tried others and found that Eufy has good products and is cost effective. I'm using a TP-Link 4g WiFi modem onboard that links up the chart plotters and AIS and I can view them on my phone.

Tapo cameras for us, we have some at home and on the boat. As other mention, a 4G router is best and also means you can have wifi on board for other purposes, we have a cheal Huwawei router that is a "home" router but runs off 12V DC.
No need for a subscription as the cameras take an SD card, ours continously loop record so we can view anything from the last month at any time.
The cameras we have are intrnal only, about £20 each. Tapo also does battery and outdoor ones - useful if power supply is an issue or if you want an external view. I have no idea how well the external ones would hold up to sea water though.

I have one of these mounted on my radar arch:

It has a SIM card, its pan and tilt with digital zoom in the Ap. Rechargeable battery powered or you can go for the solar panel option (which I have) meaning that it’s completely stand alone. You can also set up a home position which it will monitor for movement and email you an alert upon detection.
I find it very reassuring as the boat is on a swinging mooring throughout the summer.

I’ve used one of these for the last year and half. Good results and reliable. Comes with sim or you buy your own. Went through winter on solar only.
