Any suggestions for a good way to conceal a small security box on board, please ? Passports, beer money, boat docs, etc.

I'd thought of hiding a waterproof can down in a deep oily bilge, but I have a clean, fairly shallow one. Disguised as one of those plasric radar reflector cylinders, or as a battery ?

Something like a steel floor safe? It won't take a thief long to find it, wherever you put it. I'd concentrate on fixing it securely to the boat.

Lots of good places.

1. Inside the boom.
2. False air filter unit in engine bay.
3. Run box conduit inside engine room and store in there.
4. Modify freezer blocks to become a storage unit. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CMR06EE/ref=asc_df_B00CMR06EE54450645/?tag=googshopuk-21&creative=22146&creativeASIN=B00CMR06EE&linkCode=df0&hvadid=205188093108&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3400585794948836862&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006555&hvtargid=pla-432197374547
5. False cupboard front.

An old SCUBA aluminium tank with the bottom cut off and a plastic boot pushed over the bottom. Kept in bilge or a locker.
This trick was apparently used to conceal under sized cray fish. (cackers) The local fisheries inspectors are fiends and have more powers for searching than police. Larger fines and gear (including boat) confiscation powers. Anyway the story goes that the cylinder inadvertently got sent off for it's annual pressure test and came back with a certificate OK. ol'will

In one bluewater book, the story teller keeps the spare cash in an old grease tin, with push down lid in place and grease on top.

When on my boat I keep that stuff in my panick bag and then on my self when off the boat. No need for security.

I have a deep bilge, large water tanks, fuel tanks, I guess it would be easy to fabricate a false end with inspection hatch for such a hidden area. Lots of other spaces as well.

Wrap them in plastic and glass directly into the hull. Disguise it as an extra stringer.

If you are willing to undo a few screws to gain access then behind interior joinery or a headlining might be good. Might be hard to find space to fit a whole strongbox though.
