Question for the forum?
Just removed the backroll/sidepanels from the rear of our Targa 33, and am having the wooden backs replaced, and rolls etc re-upholstered by Tockfields (OEM)

They were secured by screws in a keyhole slot at the top, and screws at the bottom, with silicon sealing

Not sure this was the greatest method, as the ply distorts slightly overtime, and the keyholes enlarge.

I would propose to either use velcrose at the top, and screws at the bottom, or use blobs of liquid nails at the top, and silicon to seal.

Anyone know what the most up to date method is? Tockfields seem to think glued in

Thanks

A widely used method these days, though not the only one, is 3M dual lock. (Note when using Dual Lock that its self adhesive backing doesn't stick well enough to bare plywood so people usually prime the plywood with one coat of varnish).

Alternative is to attach 2" wide velcro to both parts using contact adhesive and when thats dry use the velcro to attach cushions.
works a treat, allows positioning, holds firm and allows you to remove cushions for winter storage.

Thanks Guys
Will probably go with the 3M dual lock, as the silicon sealing will prevent "easy" removal. ( back panels) will use press studs or velcro for the cushions
Just back from Tockfields, and they showed me a new "smoother" and more durable back board, that they use these days, so will upgrade most of the grottier panels
Saw some amazing Williams seats they have just built, (not sure if new or re-furbed) ..... quality work
