An issue that Tony Chappell might not have considered in giving such awful service and the airing of these issues on this forum is that not only will he be destroying his own business but the ability for current owners to sell their boats. I personally would not buy a Trader - new or secondhand following Gludy experiences - prior to this I would be described as a hot prospect. I had problems with my new Fairline but they are all sorted now and the boat is finally perfect - Fairline with a little pushing and the wierd relationship with their ex long term partner came through and delivered.

I think if Tarquin went through someone may purchase the business from the reciever and the Trader owners could end up with a very much better run business. I beleive that Trader as a well run business could do very well.

But surely Tarquin will be members of various organisations (like BMF ? etc) and will therefore be reputable.

As is always suggested in MBM MBY and the rest try and buy from a company that's a member of such organisations and has been trading for long time for peace of mind etc. !!!!!
If all else fails you can always take it up with them (bmf etc) and er er er get no where also.

You are right - the company has very little in assets to buy.
They have the plans etc for the new 64 but that boat is very overpriced compared to the competition.

Mind you, I think that this overpricing is I think done intentionally so thaere are hundreds of thousands to play with when offering some super deals.

I suppose there is some value - rapidly devreasing in the Trader name /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Brilliant Roger.

Tarquin
It would seem to me that they only have a design built round a shell that others make.
If I were buying a Trader, I would like to know how much "interlectual rights" that they have over the actual Trader design.
I suspect that the moulds for example belong to someone else.

I agree with you, gludy. Selling new and secondhand Traders should be a nice little business. I know they are not to everyone's taste but they have a high profile in the market and little direct competition so it should be relatively easy to shift a reasonable number every year unless of course you screw it up with non existent after sales support
