I had planned to service my engines today, getting ready for a couple of weeks on the river.
Until I got that sinking feeling as I approached the old girl and saw the canopy open and the same on 4 other boats.
Same as new year, smashed door, TV gone, drawers and lockers all over the place and a little present (actually, not so little) of DNA in the Head. And just like last year, rather than stealing my sons money box, they've just emptied the contents and thrown the box on the floor.
I don't envy the fingerprint officer!

Same spot for 8 years, no problems until 2014:( Am I being paranoid or could the increase in Squatting wrecks have anything to do with it? It's not a fishing spot or somewhere you'd access unless you knew about it or were on the river.

Had mine broken into about 4 times over 3 years always seem to conicide with school holidays, hoping they have grown up now an moved on :(

I wouldnt have thought it was the people living on the river, too obvious for the plod, but thieving barstuards are starting to use tactics normally associated with 'Med' holiday homes, ie they steal a little boat pootle along the river and 'mark' with either spray paint or similar the boats they pass, then a little while later they come back in if the mark is still there they know that the boat is not often used so break in

Mine's used all the time and it's not the school holidays yet. The last time it happened they certainly came from the river, as that was the side that was boarded with muddy boots and they also stole the life jackets.

We have had various thefts ranging from outboards to a lot of fishing gear(blimey those carp fisherman spend a lot),anyhow the last oik was battered by the lady who resides on site with an oar,she broke the oar:)
Police came and took him away for his own safety:)

not good at all, not much chance of catching them , and if by some chance they are caught, not much in the way of punishment dished out, unlucky for you they will be back no doubt, wire a movement activated camera up or a loud siren when the door is opened, can always have a cut of switch, so you don't set it off all the time.

get in touch with these they may have something, would be more beneficial, than bothering the police.

An honest member of the public handed my sat nav in, found in a sports bag stuffed in a hedge. I can collect it when forensics have dusted it for prints.
Easily identified as it had my home address in it, I won't make the mistake of not security marking the rest of my kit again.
:D

A little extra vigilance at home then in case the scrotes also checked that.

Good points. I'm alarmed to the teeth at home thanks to a run of break ins in the street. The Police reckon they left me alone as I'm the only one with a dog.

And a mother in law staying. Perhaps they took pity?
