I have Autohelm instruments that according to the manuals all run Seatalk.

By the age of them (circa 96) I'm guessing this is Seatalk 1. However the connections are all round with locking collars rather than the rectangular push-in block. Some connections have 3 pins and 1 has only 2 pins!

The AP unit has plain spade connectors.

I've just bought a B&G Vulcan MFD and I'd like to get all the data into it. I have the Seatalk to SeatalkNG converter but sitting here in the lounge I'm not sure if I have the right bits!

What sort of connectors do I have please?

Early Seatalk connectors were round 3 pin. The one that only has 2 pins will likely be the power connection. If you have a spare you can cut the plug off of one end and splice the wires to the convertor cable with the yellow plug, after cutting the ST1 plug off. Cables have positive (red), negative (black or bare wires) and data (yellow).

If you don't have a spare cable you can cut one and splice the converter cable in, so three reds together, three yellows and three bare/black wires.

Brilliant! Thanks!
