I have st40 instruments and intend to get a ST2000 autopilot and Garmin 292 chartplotter.

I notice the the autopilot accepts both Seatalk and NMEA signals - does this mean that I wouldn't need to get an interface unit ( at a cost of £120) to get this lot to 'talk' together?

If you want the definitive answer try Raymarine's web site: go to the customer support section and ask them the question. They will ask for model and serial numbers and come back to you with an answer. They promise to answer any question within 48hrs.

Worked well for me so far

Just a very satisfied customer

Cheers

Should work...

As you say, the ST2000 Plus is wired to take both SeaTalk data and NMEA data. Can't see why it shouldn't therefore take wind info via SeaTalk from your ST40 system and track info via NMEA from the Garmin.

Re: Should work...

Many thanks for the quick replies - I've taken your advice and asked the question to Raymarine direct and await their reply.

I think the autopilot will accept all of the info but still don't know if the chartplotter would do the same.

I sail in an area with quite strong currents (Morecambe Bay) and its useful to see the amount of leeway these currents produce.

I know my bio says that the boat is at Windermere but that's only temporary - sailing on the Lake is boys stuff!!
