I am connecting new Raystar GPS (130) through a seatalk1 to sealktalk ng converter box into my existing raymarine instruments (all seatalk 1) DSC radio and mcmurdo weather fax. The wiring diagram is unclear as to whether the network ng backbone needs it's own power or whether it can obtain power that through the central seatalk 1 connection. If power is required can it be connected straight into the converter box via one of the backbone connections.

Also from the same document;

Converter power supply
The converter takes its power from the SeaTalkng bus and provides power to devices on the SeaTalk spur. Power must not be connected into the SeaTalk spur. To be certain, disconnect any existing separate power connection at the SeaTalk devices on the spur.

Due to upgrading the plotter I have both ST1 and STng networks onboard and the associated loss of functionality has been rather dissapointing.

So does that mean it will power my ST1 instruments via the converterST1 spur via backbone connection power supply? And IF SO ? will the existing sea talk instruments power supply require removal. I Have waited for tech advice from raymarine and nothing yet so views gratefully received.
