I'm never seasick and I put it down to the fact that I'm completely tone deaf .. is this a viable theory or do musical people also have a complete absence of mal de mer?

That could be the case.

Sheena is also tone deaf and she has never suffered either. On the other hand, I consider myself quite musical but although never been sick, have felt squeemish...

as one of only two boys at school not allowed to join the choir 'cos my tone deafness was so bad I am interested in this. Only time I've thrown up was over a YM examiner during a nighttime blind sailing exercise - mind you he had just thrown up and he was on deck whilst I was stuck below. Served the b****r right...

AS per previous reply, her indoors is completely tone deaf and has never been sea sick in her life. I also consider myself to be able to hold town a tune and I can throw with the best of em...

Could it be that you are asleep the majority of the time on most passages?????? (As rumour has it)

Sorry to go against the grain but I am hoplessly tone deaf, sing flat in church and always get seasick.

Me to.
Thrown out of the choir at school due to singing flat.

Always feel queasy 1st day out.

More positive evidence here. With me, singing the kids to slepp amounted to cruel and unusual punishment, which had its uses - "Go to sleep now or I'll sing you a song" "zzzz..."

The only time I've even felt queasy was in a force 11, at the nav station. A sandwich cured it. For some reason my offer to make sarnies for those on deck was met with totally unwarranted abuse. I know I'm a lousy cook, but not that bad...

'Er indoors, however has a lovely voice, but becomes 'Er outdoors as soon as the boat moves about a bit

Re: Seasickness Theory - music but NB

Hey just back from Prague where I bought a violin for my daughter. Met a French violinist who goes there every 6 weeks to buy a few because he says they are about a third the price of those in the west. It's new, as is the bow, and therefore doesn't make a sound yet...?? Lots of rosin and scraping... ?? She will see it tomorrow when she gets home.
