Prochlorperazine aka Buccastem works an absolute dream. You take it when you are starting feeling sick rather than as a precaution. Buccastem uses the buccal route into the blood. You place the tablet under your top lip and let it dissolve straight through the skin. Usually stops the sickness feeling within about 10 minutes. I think you can buy in small packets without a prescription but better to get a prescription for 50 tablets or something. Only thing is I think you can only take for 2 days in a row. Prochloroperazine is normally used for anti-sickness in a hospital setting such as nausea caused from opiate pain killers.
I prefer this to stugeron which is my back up, because I end up eating them like sweets, 'just in case' which is psychologically addictive because you start to think you can't sail without them! Would much rather know I have something that will make me feel fine if and when it gets rough enough to make me ill.
I have done several ocean crossings and they worked a treat every time.
