searching for someone to install new yanmar engine mounts on Jeanneau (Erith, Kent)

Seems my engine mounts are knackered. Boat is on the mooring on the thames at the club (erith), the mooring is very close to the clubs pontoon should it need putting there for the work. I am trying to find someone that can source and install them ASAP for me please. I would like the OEM mounts rather than R&D despite the cost. There also is no dampenign on the coupling so would like this rectified too. thanks.

Engine is a Yanmar 2GM20 (year 1988)

Yanmar mounts not worth the money and design very poor and not failsafe, much better replaced with mounts from a specialist mount company rather than an engine manufacturer

Certainly they are expensive. I have no idea whether they would support the engine in a knock-down but fortunately these are rare. But why is the design otherwise very poor do you think?
 
I made & fitted a new engine bracket last month to replace a broken one.( Mine cost £ 7-00 in material cut from angle iron. A volvo one cost £ 167-00) & it was easy to get the old rubber mounting out. If the mounts are similar to a Volvo it is just a case of unbolting them, Lifting the engine with a nailbar on a block of wood & sliding the old one out & the new one in. Is that really beyond your capabilities. It just needs a couple of spanners....... Cannot comment on the engine coupling though
 
I'm pretty sure no engineer would want to be going out in a dinghy. Think of the journeys back and forward for all the bits he forgets to take and call the cups of tea he needs to go for. Speak to the people at ASAP about replacements.
 
“OEM” mounts are generally made by manufacturers other than the engine maker. You could get some good quality mounts on the internet. You will need to know the weight of the engine and divide it by the number of mounts. As Daydream believer says fitting new mounts is quite straightforward with a crowbar and wood packing pieces to hold the engine up and protect your hull.

If you look at av mounts used In industry generally you will see the difference in just the way they are manufactured, the cost is just ridiculous. The OEM Yanmar mounts look like they’ve be made in someone’s shed

none of the replies help so far, i do not have the time to change the mounts myself and i wouldnt know how to re-align. As mentioned i can get the boat onto the pontoon for the work. i read R&D mounts arent as good as OEM at idling levels and thought as thats what the boat will be doing mostly i will go OEM.

I had an R & D coupling on my yanmar 20. To retrofit one is fairly straightforward but the drive shaft will need to be shortened by 2-3". Be sure to secure the shaft when it's disconnected or it could slide out backwards through the sterngland and cutlass bearing. Unlikely but not worth taking a chance.
As far as engine mounts are concerned, AV are well thought of and far cheaper than Yanmar ones. They can advise on which mounts are needed.

I’ve change mounts twice now on different boats both with 2GM20 and vibration and noise less at all revs especially idle. The OEM mounts let the engine shake all over the place
 
Seems you are time poor but money rich. Simply replacing Yanmar mounts like for like and realigning the propshaft should be well within an easy day's work for anyone with spanners and a feeler gauge. Changing to another mount manufacturer adds possible changes to mounting holes, adding packing pieces and can be a fiddle. Certainly I went through that when I changed to R&D mounts but the end result was less movement and transmitted vibration.
Aligning the propshaft is covered by umpteen Youtube videos and web articles. Easier if you have a helper to adjust the front mounts but at the end you will know just how well it has been done rather than having to rely on a third party.
 
which mounts did you use, how do i choose the appropriate ones? thanks

I used 75’s at front and 100’s at gear box, foot mounting holes matched engine bearers so easy fit, alignment did not take long as mounted moved less that the yanmar ones.
 
because the engine on a sailboat is for emergency use and getting on and off a mooring i would assume, it would be used too if no wind. the most i would use and engine is if no wind to get back from river medway to the club or vice versa

That's a good way to ruin an engine. I think when you do actually get to using it you will find you will motor a lot more than you think

Don't understand your argument. Are you saying he should use his engine when it's not necessary? I'm with OP sailing boats are for sailing. If you want to motor everywhere, buy a motorboat.

Best to view as another sail in the locker to be used when most suited to requirements
We also have decided the OP is time poor so that also determines engine use !
