Seaqueen - any good?

No, not a jibe about the lack of a Royal Navy, or a camp boardsailer, either.

Just wondered if Seajet Seaqueen was worth the money and effort. Will it actually do 2 or 3 years in the River Exe? Nothing else I've tried has lasted at all.

Never heard of Seajet, but Jotun Seaqueen is supposed to be good.

I'll let you know in a few months, as I painted KS's bottom with it this year (my previous choice of SuperTropic having been discontinued).

JOTUN SeaQueen is good but I wouldn't expect 2-3 years unless you spend most of the year doing 20 knots like the commercial shipping it's intended for!

Jotun excellent

Seaqeen from Jotun is excellent in the Solent. can't speak for the Exe. It is very soft and lasted me 2 years. I never pushed it to three. I used to get significant weed at the waterline but when she came out it was just a thin layer of slime that washed off easily. Always gave two good coats on the alternate years

Used Jotun Seaqueen for the last 2 years certainly OK in the Solent and Portuguese waters........

+1 for Jotun Seaqueen; just re-done mine after 13months afloat on the Orwell. Some slime as expected after the Winter not leaving its mooring - - no weed; occasional small barnacle.

Think I ought to specify that 5 to 7 knots is average sailing speed, with perhaps a 3 knot current on the mooring. If Seaqueen needs polishing at speed, it may not be suitable for a slow sailer.

No it's fine for 1-2 years, I was just pointing out that the Jotun claims of 3-5 years (? I think) are based on almost perpetual motion. The yacht situation is more demanding.

Jotun Seaforce

Don't know about Seaqueen, but as a very long-term fan of Jotun antifouling I recently applied 2 coats of Seaforce:

What a disappointment, 3 weeks on and there is already fouling on the rudder and waterline.

For me I think a change of supplier next year, sadly.
