Seapro vs PC Plotter

Both have a trial and a "lite" version, but I wouldn't consider PC Plotter now as it can only use Navionics charts. I refuse to give Navionics any more money, they are a the worst company I have ever encountered.
Sorry, not wishing to start a bun fight, but I have Navionics charts and no issues on either my PC or e7 chartplotter, can you say what problems you have had with Navionics ?

I'll start with one: I bought a Navionics Gold card for Norway but it didn't work N of 75 degrees N (around Bear Island) using the Navionics PC app although the coverage stated that it included Svalbard. I then tried it in an e7 which I was about to buy, but while that was a bit better it still couldn't display N of about 78 (Svalbard goes to about 80 degrees, with the most interesting bits nearer the top). This was at at LIBS, so the Raymarine rep called over someone from the Navionics stand. Both denied there was a problem until I showed it, then took to blaming the other, then both promised to get back to me. Neither did.

When I got home I sent an email to Euronav (SeaPro) and within the hour I got at screen-shot of their system working fine in those latitudes. I bought SeaPro.

I have PC Plotter because it uses Navionics charts and is therefore compatible with our legacy Raymarine A50

(I'm not the worlds biggest fan of Navionics either but it's what we've got and it's not worth replacing it)

I've no experience of SeaPro so can't compare the two but overall I'm fairly happy with PC Plotter especially since the upgrade (free) to the latest version earlier this year. It's a bit clunky to use in one or two respects but being a technophile that doesn't greatly bother me and it's route planning is pretty effective

The one aspect that remains annoyingly somewhat less than 100% effective is transferring waypoints and routes to and from the Raymarine plotter but that's not entirely an issue with the software, the plotter software is a significant part of the problem (there are similar problems using Raymarine's own PC based software). And to be fair, I've never got around to communicating the issues with transfers to and from the plotter to the developer of PC Plotter, a couple of other issues and bugs I passed on a while back were addressed in the latest version

Overall, I'm happy with PC Plotter as the best available option using Navionics charts at no additional expense. If I wasn't locked in to Navionics I would be looking at all the other options a lot more closely

When I bought my Seapro I had some trouble getting it to work with my Navionics charts. I got tremendous assistance from Seapro's customer service, the best service I have ever had.
