Still no pics. Is it a sailing boat or a motor boat? Seamaster made both, although a single cylinder Lister suggest a sailboat. Three main models were a 23 from the 70s and a 26 and 29 a bit later. Actually a bit sceptical about a Lister single, more likely to be a Petter which could have been fitted to a 23. Popular boats in their day but now little value even in good condition.

From YBW new user page, unfortunately it doesn't say how many posts you have to make to get full access:

New users will find that not all forum functionality is available to them until they have contributed a minimum number of posts.

Functions such as; editing profile, adding an avatar or profile picture, adding/editing a signature, etc., are disabled during the probationary period.

There is also a limit in the number of Conversations (Private Messages) that can be stored and sent during this time.

I think its no of posts that count, rather than time. Just keep responding here and you'll get there. It might even be 5 posts, in which case give it another go. If not, it could be 10.

She has a transom hung rudder (which is not shown).

She does not look like a Seamaster 23 - some details of this yacht here -

She does look a bit like a Halcyon 23, but the windows are different.

It's suggestive of the earlier Seamaster, the Crystal 23; the windows are different but everything else is very similar. If there was any element of home-build involved I think we have a winner. It lists multiple builders so that could easily account for differences.

How much value did the owner place on this boat re the part payment of the job?
Re selling the boat on, I don't think that you would get a lot for her really.

You mentioned that the engine is a Volvo - that would be one of the (very old now) MD-1 engines - do you know if it still works?

I knocked £400 off the price of the work
Not heard the engine running as the boat is on a hard standing and it is water cooled
not like lister sr2 that pushes my 16ft cheverton which is air cooled
But it does turn over easily with the starting handle
