Hi. I'm helping someone fix a big bodge on their boat. Its a Seamaster 24 that used to have a pre-crossflow coupled to a worthem blake fisherboy gearbox. Someone in the past has exchainged that engine for a Ford XLD 1.8. they put the spacer between the gearbox and engine on reversed to allow the XLD starter motor to be used on the back of the engine where the gearbox has a hole for the old starter. They then chopped away loads of the gearbox to allow it all to fit together. it worked for a while but has now failed.
My friend wants to fix this better. The engine runs ok so they want to get an XLD to PRM bellhousing from Lancing marine and a PRM 120 from flee bay. this will allow the starter to be put on properly and an updated gearbox. This will mean the shaft rotates the opposite way leading to a need to change the prop.

My question is.....(from Lancing Marine)... What is the biggest diameter prop they can get on this boat? It has a one inch shaft. I think Lancing need to know this to do a propeller calculation.

Has anyone done something similar?

I think I have a marine bell-housing that would fit that engine, why not fit a Hurth gearbox which can rotate either way?

I think the 24-25 Seamasters will take a 14" (poss 15") prop, is it direct or through a V drive?
