I have a GRP fuel tank with GRP lid. It originally had a rubber gasket seal between tank and lid. I discarded this when I found it had swollen by absorbing fuel. The replacements have not been satisfactory. Can anyone suggest where I can find a resilient (rubberlike) sheet material that I cna make a gasket from. After all fuel hoses are made from fuel rsistant rubber.

Cork gaskets is the....

...answer I think. Similar to what you use to find to seal the rocker covers on many engines.
This material used for the manholes on my Moody built 1977 and were still sealing perfectly when I cleaned the tanks last winter. So I bought new cork sheets from a company specialized in rubber seals, hoses etc. The material was cheap and easy to cut into size.
I don´t think the adress would be of any help to you, I live in Stockholm

I have used a firm, Seals+Direct, who can supply rubber sheeting of various grades, including diesel resistant. Phone number 01425 610967. They will also make seals for you but I found it very easy to make my own.
