Fitting a new Nelson Spinflo cooker, what, if any, sealant should I use on the compression fitting which connects to the gas tail pipe on the cooker?

Cheers

Slight thread drift but...

I have just replaced my gas hoses. They were GOK fittings and supplied with the boat from Jeanneau. The regulator in the gas locker was screwed onto the bottle with a KLF fitting. Apparently this is a German fitting that will screw onto a UK 4.5kg bottle BUT IS DANGEROUS AS IT IS NOT A GOOD FIT. This was evidenced by a slight smell of gas in the locker when the bottle was not turned off. I was lucky enough to speak with Kevin Tetchner from Intergas UK Tel 0191 548 5000 (no connection - just a satisfied, safer customer etc) who obtained the correct adapter from GOK and now the boat is safe. A friend, who also has a Jeanneau had the same dangerous set up. I would advise anyone with GOK fittings to check this out.

A small dose of Clessetite on the threads, nothing on the pipe or olive.

Errr, not on the threads of compression joints to seal as they are only mechanical in holding the fitting together. The sealing is done with the olive. Granted it may be useful in preventing the joint loosening with vibration however.

Biggest giveaway we see on DIY jobs is PTFE tape on the threads of compression fittings.

Not intended as a sealer, I use to make tightening more controlled, especially in awkward spots, makes overtightening less likely.
