Our "new" boat will be getting moved by road and the radar arch has to come down. It's a "T" shaped arch and has retaining clips at the front and hinges at the back. That would suggest to me that this should easy - unclip push back and secure. job done.

That is assuming plenty of cable slack within the arch or cables that can be broken with plugs & sockets.

If as often is the case with boats, poor electrical installation work could mean that the cables are tight as a drum, with no slack and no plugs & sockets!

Has anyone lowered the radar arch on their Sealing flybridge boat and could give me an idea what to expect? Incidentally I can't have a look as I am some way away from the boat, so I have two choices 1) get the yard to do it, 2) travel miles and DIY.

Thanks folks.

The hinges and catch you describe are there for no other reason than to lower the arch for bridge clearance, normally the part you describe would be bolted on when it left the factory so if someone has had the arch modified they should also have extended the cables to allow it to fold.

I have lowered the T on a sealine 350 (F37) with ease for a low inland bridge, cables all had plenty of slack .

I think you would need a method to strengthen the T while being moved by road,( thinking sponge packed and a ratchet strap ).

My F33 was moved by road from Windemere to Reading.
The T radar arch was removed completely including the radar dome. The dome unplugged and removal consisted of undoing the screws in the hinges and lowering to the cockpit. All secured for travel.
On arrival the arch was replaced. I also had a T bar for lowering the arch for bridge clearance. This fitted into a hole on the bathing platform at the base and the arch was hinged back into the top. Sealine had this an an "extra". It worked well.

F33

My F33 just folded down. The transporter was used to moving boats and placed a wooden strut to keep everything in place. Can email you pics if you want. My T was apparently designed to be folded easily.
(TV aerial came loose though beacuse the grip had not been tightened before move)

Sealine call the radar platform a 'bommer'. Good for concealing a radar reflector inside. I have sealed mine topside to prevent water from passing into the cover clam via the 2 knarled fixing bolts below. Best replace said bolts with stainless unless it is regularly lowered.

Under the bommer is the clam shell (locker) inside this will be two grey knobs that hold the front of the bommer down. Unscrewing these will let you lower the bommer down onto the cockpit area, with a wooden baton used from side to side to rest it on, then gently tightned for transport with a ratchet strap.
