Just read the motor boat review in Jan PBO. I was shocked at the lack of criticism in the review - it seemed to have been written by an over enthusiastic puppy. £180,000 for something that looks like the inside of an Ibis hotel room? They've got to be kidding. Also why do motor boat reviewers quote gallons per hour when we buy fuel in litres? 16 gallons per hour is 80 litres an hour, approx. So to venture out on calm days only and tootle about in this average white box costs 180,000 sovs plus another minimum 80 an hour by the autumn. That's a lot of sails!

I know... it's a bit of a tangent. I was just really shocked by the price and how naff it looked!

(ps I'm not anti motor boat... we're nearly all in boats with motors).

yes i did think it was a little lacking in style, again i am not anti motor boats at all, i love 'um as well as sail, its some motor boat skippers i take issues occasionally!

regarding leisure marine industry journalists, you have to wonder if these articals arnt written over a glass of wine or two and a nice friendly meal paid for by the lending dealer of said test boat, bless them!!!

I don't think you read the SC35 advertisement carefully enough. You missed the extra £11000 for an extra 80hp and the £4500 for a driving lesson, fenders, string and a tank of diesel.

I also liked the PBO money saving tip of getting someone to re-engine a boat for £25000 + 5 months ashore.
