Any owners out there had a leak in your rear cabins? been down to boat today and the floor carpet in the far right corner (including the carpet inside the cupboard is soaking).
I can't make out where the water is coming in, the portholes are all dry, I have previously hosed down the inside of the cockpit and cocpit lockers to see if this caused the leak but it didn't. The leak must therefore be coming in from the outside, perhaps the windscreen leaks and its draining back and finding its way into the rear cabin???

Any ideas anyone?
 
sealine leak

had something similiar , after much investigation found out that the deck drains on the
side deck overflow into the rear cabin if you but high pressure hose directly on them or if they get badly blocked with debris , leaves etc , check it out , sorted my problem on a S34.
 
Any rust stains on the outside below portlight, deck is lined so water can leak between and

Also check when the portlight is open, is dry inside the rubber seal, job to explain, look at the others after hosing them all and see if that one has more water around the seal.

They can leak, but not look like they leak.



If not could well be the windscreens,


Also remove a speaker and check the arch is not leaking and dry behind, Am sure all the wire run down the STB side on arch, but can't be sure.
 
Don't remember the S41 layout but if it's fresh water leak check the drain hoses to the basin/sink in the toilet/heads. Had a similar problem on the Atlantic and found that the drain hose on the aft cabin toilet basin had separated from the spigot so water was draining from the sink into the bilge area at the side of the boat and then overflowing and soaking the carpet in the aft cabin.

I can't help much but my first guess would be the windscreen. I had a leak on my boat recently which manifested itself as a leak from the ceiling in the forward cabin. Eventually found that rainwater was leaking thru the lower corner of the windscreen frame and working it's way along the ceiling panels to drip out over the forward cabin bed. You need to sort it quick because it will damage gloss wood and encourage mould inside the boat. At the very least get a dehumidifier operating in that cabin

I've got a 41 but I can't think where the water's coming from, but I've just been told my engine room's soaking wet so I think it's the really heavy rain is forcing it's way in when normal rainfall does'nt if you see my point.
You say far right corner, is that by the bed table on the left (if you're standing at the end of the bed)?
 
No, i mean the right hand side when your standing at the foot of the bed facing it, there are two floor to ceiling cupboards, one with shelfs and the other a hanging locker. The cupboard with shelfs is nearest the hull but dry, yet the hanging locker cupboard next to it is wet. I'd have thought if the leak was coming in from the hull (port hole or windscreen etc the cupboard nearest the hull would be wet. Very strange.

Did you get this sorted in the end?

A good friend of mine also has a Sealine S34 with what looks to be exactly the same problem!

It's fitted with an Eberspacher heating and has a vent to the starboard side of the helm (just next to the manual fire extinguisher handle). When we spareyd the deck with a hose there was definitively water ingress from there which ran along the roof lining and down the left hand wall at the corner, so we re-seated and re-sealed it BUT this has not entirely solved the problem.

Cloud 7 suggested checking the drains on the side deck, however I am trying to figure out which ones he meant. The aft grilles drain into an area inside the engine bay and then out from there. Are there others that I have missed?

It might be worth checking leaks into the arch. Make sure the drains outboard at the base of the arch are clear and check behind the speaker panels that no water in trapped.

Apols, but I found this very confusing too, Port, Starboard, fore and aft would describe better generally.:o

My first guess would be to look at domestic water supplies to. The waste pipes, feeds to taps, deck shower and main tank (inlet & outlet pipe connections). Also, does the water pump turn on more frequently to re-pressurise system even if no water has been drawn?

Hi all... Yup the original post by Switch is an oldie but than goodness he posted it! He was kind enough to get back to me the same day I posted. Turns out to have been an issue with (the rubber?) at the corner where his windscreen meet the radar arch. Looking at my friend's boat yesterday I could see that the window rubber has shrunk a little so I reckon this is the root cause.

You could try Captains creeping crack cure. Great stuff from most Chandelry's. Worked on the window seals on my old Sunline, being Trend screens, would be the same principle as your Sealine.

Thanks Rafiki - I saw some really good reviews about this product (Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure)

I'll give it a go, once this damn rain stops :(
