Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a used Sealine S38 (about 608 years old) and am looking for any formal or informal reviews on this sports cruiser. Has MBM or any other magazine done a review of this boat in the past? Or does anyone know of any other reviews?
Thanks...

You def need a full survey on the s38 many many have suffered bad hulls, long stress cracks along the chines and spay rails, especially under the saloon settee is a very bad weakpoint, sealine have covered them under warranty, repaired by Desty marine as a subcontractor, there should be history to confirm the repairs, and of course and engine and drive survey by a competent volvo engineer.

Sealine S38

I have a 2005 model S38. Mine did have stress cracks in the gelcoat along the chines and spray rails.

Sealine took complete ownership of the problem and had the boat delivered by sea to Desty Marine at Hamble. All i can say is that both Sealine and Desty Marine were fantastic.

This is my second Sealine . I would not hesitate to purchase another Sealine boat . The aftersales service was very impressive, especially as i was not the 1st owner of the vessel.

I have my boat lifted each winter for several months to complete maintenance works. After 4 years i have no further areas of concern with the hull.

Once again well done Sealine and Desty.

I have been very impressed with my S38 . The accommadation is superb.

Please PM me if you have any further questions

Buy one, you wont be disappointed.

Best Wishes

Thanks for that, CHI.

Yes, this one too has been fully surveyed and the it was also returned to Dest Marine for strengthening works under Sealine management. So all seems fine and sale is pending :)

Cheers

The early ones had problems with the internal lights. They are a clever common bus with electric pulses (or something like that!) controlling dimming etc. Just worth checking all the lights work because repairing may not be straightforward.

Excellent boats though, all the great aspects of the S37 (my boat) but with a totally redesigned hull giving more headroom and a fabulously roomy wall to wall guest cabin.
