It's a well known problem on some motor boats. Most boats are set up for left hand drive markets but for right hand drive markets like the UK, the steering wheel and controls obviously have to be moved to the right hand side and, unless the builder moves some other component to compensate, the boat lists to the right hand side

Good point. Also in the UK the wind blows predominantly from the west, so builders tend to strengthen the stbd side of the boat, whereas in the med it blows from the east, so the extra GRP goes on the other side.

No, but I suspect there's a Tardis parked on the radar arch: you can just see the blue light. All that space-time continuum distortion stuff plays havoc with the trim.

What I was really pointing out was that marine batteries can weigh anything from 10Kgs ish each to 60Kkgs !

Regarding the lines - the reason I have the boat pulled in is predominately due to making it easier for my kids to get on. In retrospect, I will slacken her off a touch.If the tide was going out, it kicks her arse out and slackens the bow line, which although you can't see in the picture, is drooping.

With respect to something being under the boat - at low tide, the Tri-data shows 19ft, so it would have to be one hell of a submerged object.

With regards buying it with the list - yes I did, and the owner pointed it out to me as to one of the things he didn't get snagged. In the three years he owned her prior to us, he'd only clocked 86 hours in her. In that time, he spent £1000's on keeping her up together with the appropriate services etc.

There are no unusual objects such as generators, lift rafts on board. The only thing that I've added is a microwave oven, and that happens to be on the starboard side, but is also of no real weight.

I am inclined to think, that due to the previous owners lack of time with the boat, that he was apathetic to getting the list snagged with Sealine. I guess, because I'm more inclined to spend a greater time with the boat, than the previous owner, I like things just so, and the list, to my mind, shouldn't be there.

I have tried today, abeit unsuccessfully, to aquire some lead shot. I will try and balance her up.

When she was out of the water, there were no great tales of woe regarding her under the waterline condition. She was as clean as a whistle - just as I expected.

So, it did come out of Sealine with the list, but due to the lack of snagging by the owner, they were not given the chance to rectify the problem.

/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif So Bavarias - German, Azimuts, Absolutes - Italian, Bayliner - US, Windy, Nimbus - Sweden etc. etc are all converted for UK use are they? It's March 6th not April 1st!!! Helms on sports boat are (in the main) on the starboard side. And oddly enough everybody in Europe conforms to IALA System A so that makes no difference either. And even in the US it is only the red and green buoys that are swapped, not what side of the channel you should be using.
