Sealine S28 extended Standoff Arms fitted to radar arch

After a bit of head scratching to achieve a similar setup to a thread posted a while back showing a sealine sc29 with the standoff arms fitted to the roof, I've achieved the same on our S28 fitting them to the radar arch. Used a set of fishermans adjustable banksticks with a camlock mechanism that allows the length to be adjusted. Very pleased with the result, full access to the swim platform retained :)

no need Andy... due to the arms being adjustable you can extend one further than the other to effectively lock the dingy in place fore and aft. lateral movement is minimal so it's quite a stable setup
 
Looking good there Gary, I can see the point of that.
With the standoff arms where I have them, the bathing platform is out-of-bounds unless you are less than 3ft tall.

Still got the lightning conductor? :confused:

funny you should say that steve I am just in the middle of fitting similar to my s37 and all the wife keeps banging on about is she wont be able to see the boat name gggrrrrr

great job by the way gary looks perfect, I don't want to spoil the hard work you have put in but I spoke in detail to the guy who put the original pics on of his boat he had done the same too, he told me he did it to his old boat but would not do it again on his new boat, cant remember the exact reasons but I think it was to do with the large forces created dur to the long arms and where they connect to the boat just something to keep your eye on but again well done does look good and no trip hazards

gary how have you attached the arms to the radar arch have you any close up pics of that bit

I don't have any close ups but used fender hooks with a ring eye insert in the end of the pole. The fender hooks are bolted through the two layers of the radar arch with washers to spread the load on the inside, should (will) be fine. Did similar on my last boat but only used screws which was a mistake as they pulled in a F7. The bolts will be able to withstand far more force.

cheers gary I can see how they should be fine if bolted through with nuts on inside I presume the chap I spoke to only screwed onto the radar arch hence the problems he had

do you expect to get charged extra now for the extra length I was talking to a chap in our marina only yesterday and he said 3 years ago they measured every boat which earned them a few extra £££££££ but I think that was when marinas were bursting full there are a few empty berths at our marina now so I hope they don't measure mine when fitted

they still do it.:eek: I have purposely fitted davit plates on the swim platform so I can remove the davits with ease and bring the LOA back to original dimensions should the marina decide to get 'unreal'. I'm sure they won't as I am sure they value my custom and realise that I'll only remove the tender and davits should they wish to stick to the guidelines in regard to LOA. I am certain they also realise that should they do so, it'll cause me some considerable inconvenience, disrupt my boating pleasure and entice me to relocate to Swanwick or similar who will no doubt welcome my custom. Sense usually prevails in these circumstances

I really like your solution, I am looking how to secure our air deck tender to the swim platform of our Fairline Targa 34.

You mention that you have used Davit plates so that you can remove the davits if you wish. It looks like yo have the "vertical" style weaver Davit. Did you have these plates made? If so by who?

I see that Weaver make a quick release plate but that it is for their horizontal swim platform Davit.

they're the Weaver plates Mike. the plate has a slot at the base so they're still ok to use in the vertical plain and water will drain through the slot
 
Thanks Gary, I did wonder if you could use the Weaver plate with the vertical Davit, it certainly saves having to have plates made as bespoke items. I think I'll order some up, although I still need to get some bespoke brackets / blocks made to deal with the curve of the swim platform edge. I'll also have a look at fixing the stnd off arms to the radar arch, I have some 42" weaver arms which should do the trick.

What were the bank sticks you used to achieve this as I would like to try something along these lines myself.
