With all this talk of Hp its worth knowing that the KAD32 was very conservatively rated by Volvo, the 170hp was actualy nearer 190Hp.

actually someone did tell us that the kad32's were in fact 190hp but we thought they were just telling porkies. Some further details from the brokers shows the twin engined boat to have only around 100 hours as opposed to 500 on the single. To me that would be a good thing as whole boat less used, but maybe I'm wrong?- I know its not good for marine engines to lie unused. Annual servicing and all paperwork/receipts available for both boats. Surely at 100hrs there cant be much wrong then? viewing will tell I suppose and if she is not as described when we get there then we will consider paying to have the single engine one lifted in/out. Easy Jet flights work out much cheaper than cranage - what has the world come to!

Boat builders were initially putting in D3-160's as direct replacements for KAD32's and it wasn't working out too well. Hence the D3-190.

Don't panic, mine went back in on Monday, nice and clean, props are sparkling - ask Overdraught. Out on 10:30 bridge round to Swanage, clocked 36.2 kts across the bay. So if you need back up for the challenge let me know, as the song goes 'I'll be there'

Personely I would go for a single engine having had twins in a similar size boat, half the maintenance, not much difference in manouerability and better fuel consumption. But a KAD44 in an S28 is not enough grunt, if it was a D4-310 or D6-370 then that would be different /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

You missed a bit :rolf

My S23 engine bay is as clean as your S28, I love having a clean engine bay. For some reason I find it easy to keep clean, maybe something to do with the gelcoat interior as opposed to a rough finish?

So is ours. Helped it was clean when we picked it up. The other half isnt happy if there is any muck/dirt in there.

Yup, Mrs S28 does wonder why she keeps buying j-cloths / mr muscle etc. and they just keep disappearing. It's as if our house is the Bermuda Triangle of cleaning products.

With reference to the engine compartment it's a close one but I am afraid the props are not even close to the shineyness if that is the correct word - Overdraught is still wearing darken glasses due to the glare.
