Hi can anyone advise me, the heating system on my s28 is a Eberspacher when turned on the heat vents out into the galley and cabin area, but not into the cockpit.
Does anyone know if this system was originally installed with no outlet to the cockpit area as there seems to be a vent at the bottom of the helm position.

Heating would have been an optional extra and could have been factory fitted or dealer fitted or added later . So possibly no two boats identical.
When you refer to a vent in the cockpit do you mean a white or cream coloured plastic fixed circular louvred thing about 100mm diameter ? If so that could be the air intake for the heater ?

Yes thats exactly right only the vent is oblong now you have mentioned that it starting to make sense.
Thanks for the quick and informative reply.

Usually the air intake for the heater is circular since the air intake hose for the heater is circular.

The air intake for the heater can be in the boat interior so it is always recirculating air. Or the air intake can be external (eg in the cockpit) so it always brings in fresh air. The heater outlets may have adjustable flaps although one outlet is always a fixed louvre so you can't accidentally shut all outlets.

A rectangular vent under the helm is probably to vent the under helm dashboard area only … to reduce condensation issues , and also providing a means of access .
