After much research and heading off those that would have me get a displacement boat I think my next boat will be a Sealine S23 or 25. I was thinking how nice it would be to properly try one or something very similar first.

Does anyone know where or if it is possible to rent a sports cruiser in the 25 ft range for say a week. I have my ICC and Powerboat 2 and VHF licence. Uk would be good or Med even better

Regards

Dennis

Next to no chance in UK other than on broads and rivers from the likes of hoseasons, and they won't have S23/25s.
More chance but expensive to rent in the med.
However up to 25ft they tend to be open or walkaround boats, cruisers starting at 27/28ft upwards.
Expect to pay 2500 to 3000 Euros per week for 25ft open boat!!!!!

Thanks for the reply. I have done the broads several times and not the same thing in my view. I will probably just have to go for it, I think it will be ok as we have spent a few nights in our 19 foot Fletcher Sports Cruiser which is just a cuddy. We cant to move to a boat with proper facilities all be it small. It will be a real wrench selling the Fletcher though

I have not been since last year and i have no contact details, it is possible someone local would know or google might, but there are several boats that could fit your requirements, they are based at Lygia, Lefkas, and are for hire.
forgot to add, they are capable of accommodating a couple.

Dennis,

I think it would be easier to find a kind forumite to take you out for a day on one.

That would be very kind but a lot to expect. I sort of want to see how usable it is as a boat to stay on. Me and here indoors manage ok in fine weather in a marina on our 19 foot cuddy but know that a 25 footer would be luxury for us. We stayed on ours at the weekend and It was a real dancing act just to make a cuppa but it is doable

I'm currently in Empuriabrava, Costa brava at the moment . Have a google for Thalassa boat rental. They rent up to 41 ft. Great cruising area around Cap de Creus just 10 mins away and lots of rental apartments available. I've been out every day this week, water was 27 degrees today (according to my Raymarine instrument)
August is manic so avoid.
I had an S23 which I used to tow here.......great boat!

Hi David,
could I ask you the weight of the s23 as these are on my hit list to buy for my first boat. And secondly could you tell me what vehicle you used to tow it with, if I'm not being to cheeky.

Can't answer your first question but if you do a search on Britboats it has a seacion on all Sealine. Also worth noting if you buy a Sealine, Seabridge Marine have all the spares you will ever need, I've not caught him out yet. So don't worry about buying an obsolete boat.
I towed it behind a 2.8 Shogun and a. 3 litre Vauxhall Monterey (badged up Izuzu Trooper)
Word of advice: Pay the money and get it craned in, brakes, bearings, cables really don't like salt water.

Thanks for the advice David. I'll make a note of seabridge marine and take note of the trailer advice. It seems quite a popular opinion regarding the salt water.
