I am thinking of buying a diesel sealine s.23 but have noticed loads of new or nearly new boats with low hours for sale after one season's use. Would any current or ex-owners be able to give me any feedback on these boats, reliability problems, running costs etc?

many thanks

I dont really know these boats that well but a possible reason for some of these one year old boats for sale, if they are through dealers, is that I think Sealine offered a trade in price equivalent to the purchase price if owners moved up to a new and bigger Sealine, this might account for the number of nearly new for sale. Just a thought

Your right - The reason why Sealine even make a small boat (unlike Sunseeker and Fairline) is to create brand loyality from new buyers who will naturally trade up within the same make. So it is good value.

Good choice IMHO.

A friend may have his Sealine S24 for sale. S24 is supossed to have a better cockpit layout and galley layout. The Sealine S24/S23 are ideal first time boat from a UK boat builder and therefore has the advantage of local service and support.

I think most owners of this class of boat trade up to larger after 1 or 2 yrs when the boating bug really set in. If you want any further details send me a PM.

Sir:
I had a 240 Senator, nearly the same boat with diesel AD31 for four years, very econonmical, used to shudder a bit on high seas but trimming the nose down minimised that, (should not be out in high seas anyway) the boat is still around and still looks ok. I changed to a hard top because of the Scottish Weather.
Lifting the carpets etc to get at the engine is a bit of a pain but thats the same on any similar boat.

Some of us are stuck with our S24's through Season IV, despite the boating bug being firmly attached to both myself and SWMBO, because every time we open the piggy bank, we find copper coins, Confederate Dollars, and pre-consolidation QXL shares.

(Still saving for the S28 - only £40k to go)
