My starboard trim tab has stopped working last season , At present i have the boat on the hard and intend to figure out if i need to replace this part. Can someone help me to locate the junction box for the loom in the engine bay or does the wiring go straight to the helm controller? Anyone got a wiring diagram that may help locate the same?

Elltrims wiring loom to the dash controller is numbered 1 to 8, it tandems to the lower helm panel controller then to the hyd pack, no doubt there will be some joint somewhere but id say you need to be looking for a dry joint or break as its only 1 tab thats failed.

Mine are behind the large cover in the aft cabin on the after lower bulkhead under the drawers etc. Hope that makes sense....

Look for black cable wrap, the connectors are inside, quite high up as the leads from the motors are not that long.

The Port one was easy to find but I was trying to replace the Stbd one! I managed to find it by feel only and ended up carefuly cutting a large hole in the fibreglass under a carpeted cover just outside of the shower which is screwed on to the fibreglass. Will be easy to get to next time! Let me know if you need more info.

Blood hell ! you kept that major surgery quiet.......

Not something you brag about, quite worrying, did it with the boat in the water so you can imagine all the thoughts going through my mind especially as it was at least a 3" hole.

By far the worst bit was getting in the bl***y cold water in April to fit the ram! Did it twice as well, either cos I liked it so much or I couldn't get the wire to go in the first time....... Found there were other wires/pipes laying over the hole once I had done the surgery!

Thanks for that.
was it difficult to thread the new cable through the fitting on the exterior on the underside of swim platform into this area for connecting up? It looks as if you must push wiring away and get it to turn back to make it into this aft area.

Yes that is right, problem on mine was there was no room to get your hand in there.

Pulled a piece of string through with the old wire as it was removed but couldn't pull it back with the new wire.

Let me know if you need any more detail on where to drill access holes if required!!!

On the subject of F43 has anyone had a water leak in aft cabin near the shower door, mates boat has one there and cant find the leak.

Yes, I had a leak comng in near there at one point. It only happened when the boat was on a cradle on the hard and was sitting at a slight backward angle. It turned out to be the velcro studs on the fb sun pad, these were taken out and put back in with some silicone to seal.

Paul,

Think that Spotty Dog did. He found out that the shower window was not sealed correctly and the water went under the shower unit and appeared just there.

14May1995 (user name) also had water collecting there when at sea, can't remember the outcome on that one.

Bojangles came up with a new one, must check mine.....

I have sorted my leak now (touching wood) but I believe I had two problems :

1. The window seal was leaking, allowing water to get between the inner and outer skin of the shower tray.
2. I had removed the pvc gator around the base of the crane, as it looked at bit grubby & was split, I have now replaced it.

Since doing the above I have a bone dry, aft cabin carpet.

Incidentally there was no traces of water coming down onto the carpet, it seams to come up from underneath.....

This a common problem with F43's

Sorry to sidetrack from the OP but I am having a 2001 F43 surveyed next week, I have now sold my Targa 34.

I have noted all of the above posts with interest but would like to know of any other common or otherwise problems that I should look out for.

SPOTTYDOG3: I believe we did the sea survival course together with Hurricane (Mike) last year (almost to the day) at Mendez Marine - you may recall I was the stoutest of them all!

Any guidance or PM's would be much appreciated.....!
