Sealine F34 Fuel Consumption?

I am new to boating and will be buying a boat later this year or early next year. I am considering the Jeanneau Prestige 32 with twin diesel engines or the Sealine F34 with 2 x AD41P/DP diesel engines. Despite asking around I am unable to get what is a consistent/reasonable report of fuel consumption. I realise that marine engines are thirsty however before buying I would like to know how big my wallet needs to be.

Can any owners/users of either of the above boats give me an idea of the fuel consumption in gals/hour or litres/hour that they actually achieve at 20 knots and 25 knots. I realise that this will vary depending on wt/temp/load and many other factors however an actual figure that has been achieved by owner would be very helpful. Thank you.

I will leave the specifics for later but Diesel Fuel is probably the least of the costs to worry about unless doing more than 250hrs per year. Berthing, servicing, depreciation etc. add up to far more. I look forward to the other responses,

If you are worried about cost well, Do not buy a boat !

Every time I go out something has to be replaced, I know my boat is 24 years old but my mates with younger boats have the same experince !

Allow at least 10-15%(of the cost of the boat) a year for maintance !

It also depends if you can fix things on the boat? electrics,mecahnics, Gelcoat,grp?

On the other hand if you really love your boat you dont mind spend money on it?

well, might get a more expensive if the tax on diesel zooms up !, but otherwise id agree.. depreciation and berthing probably makes other costs an irrelevance !!
better check you have somewhere to berth before you buy, by the way. Dont assume your prefered marina can take you.

Have a quick look at some recent fuel consumption posts on forum think that around 8gph seems to be ball park number,with more at WOT and lots less at 1500 rpm etc.Just one further comment outdrives are quicker and more economical but they will ravage your wallet in the maintaince dept in later life. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Many thanks for all your replies. I realise that owning a boat is an expensive hobby but as with all things it is nice to know how deep my pocket needs to be. Thanks also for all the other areas of expenditure that I will need to consider. I now have a greater understanding that will help me buy the boat that I can enjoy. Thanks again.

Only just spotted your post, but I amy have some useful info for you. Of course I am bias, I sell Jeanneau Prestige 32's!
But I do have some accurate fuel, performance, noise level data for Prestige 32's with all the engine options through to 2005 models (not 2006 with the D series engines). The data also includes info on number of crew, amount of weight carried etc.
In addition, as the F34 is a direct competitor of mine and on outdrives, I have cost comparisons for a tyipcal boating year. The comparisons are for engine maintenance and average running costs.
