Hi all
wondering if anyone can advise me, I have just bought a Sealine F34 with 2 x volvo penta 260 engines, the boat is lying in portugal, whilst on my first visit I had to supply and fit 3 new batteries,
after this i took the boat out for the first time, and the EVC system was reading a fault, and would only allow me to do 9 knots, could this be due to removing all the batteries, and is there a way to reset the EVC, I also found a small piece of rope around the propellar could this have any bearing on the fault.
I have been Boating for the last ten years, but EVC is new to me and do not really understand how it works.
I will be back in Portugal next Tuesday, any response and help grately appreciate.

cheers Jeff

Welcome to the Forum Jeff, and congratulations on your new boat. VolvoPaul, as his name suggests, is an expert on these things, as are a few others. I'm sure one of them will be along at some point. As it is holiday time, people don't always have access to the inter web, so if you don't get any response, bump your thread up to the top again so people can see it.

What was the specific fault? Evc will give you an error code, and depending on your flavour of evc , this might be shown in an lcd display in the rev counters, or by a flashing diagnostic led on the evc control panel. You can find out how to read error codes from the evc manual for your particular installation. Once you have the error code, this will help you solve the underlying fault.

Thanks Jimmy ,
all I can recall was that it said fault, didn't see an error code, I am returning back to the boat on Tuesday and will check out the suggestions that you have mentioned.
which hopefully will solve this issue.
if not be back on here tuesday.
regards jeff.

Hi Paul
wow I am impressed with this site that i only joined this week,
Yes this is me, Ant is one of my best mates, I spoke to him thursday evening and he said he had spoken to you about my problem.I dont actually know how the EVC system works but I am back out to portugal on tuesday to have a go at it, Ant said to give him a ring and he will run though with me what you explained to him.
I hope I can get it fixed as Ant & Clare are coming out there with us next month, maybe you might be around when I talk to Ant next week if I get stuck.
Cheers jeff
