Help - Anybody got any info - The boys went to look at a Sealine 285 yesterday - it has 2 x 200 hp Volvo diesels, but there appears to be no history on the boat at all apart from it used to be called Grey Eagle and had been in Falmouth marina at some point in the past.

If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Remember Grey Eagle, sorted out some charging problems years ago.
It was a good looking boat with no major faults when I was on, think the owner did a bit of up-dating and sorting.
285 were not a bad boat.
Let me know if you want any particular gen.

Should fly with those engines in, but make sure you get a good survey, in case it has literally been flying!

as mentioned with em engines it will go like a bat outa hell so get the hull checked. I have a 1989 285 (twin 130 diesles which manages about 28 knots flat out with a tail wind!) which I bought a year ago, when we got it cosmeticaly it was grim but after lots of elbow grease we have proved most of it was only superficial. The only weak point we have found it the radar arch they seem a little weak and most of the ones I have looked at seem to have cracked at the corners. We plan to reinforce our later this year. Oh yeh one other thing, if it is a pre 1990 boat it will have ply hatches in the cockpit, most of the ones I looked at are again rotten and weak, another problem ours has but weare having fibreglass ones made up next month.

Over all fab boat!

Must be getting old !, but I do not remember a ply hatch in a Sealine cockpit, in the cabin yes, but not cockpits.
Which have you in plywood ?

the engine hatches etc in the cockpit they are ply covered in white stick on stuff with black stripes to look like planking of some sort. The edges of the hatches are all trimmed in right angle alluminium strips.

My sealine 195 of the same year was dome in the stuff too, as were most of the 285s I looked at when looking for mine.

It's old age, and to many Sealines.

Mate even had 195 no 1 for 12 years, mind a complete blank.
