I would like your advice/knowledge on a price of a trailer. We have been made aware that the boat we aim to buy has a very good condition trailer available for the boat. Apparently for a price of around £2000.

Does this sound about right?

Been away from boating so long I have lost touch with all this so hope the kind people of this forum might share their thoughts.

£2000 sounds like a lot for a second hand trailer rated, I guess, to about 2.5t. Is it roller or bunk? Makes a big difference. You could buy a new one for not much more Trailer. Find out more about what is being offered and compare like for like. If it turns out to be a full roller coaster rated to 3500kgs and from a good manufacturer which is nearly new and been well looked after, it could be an absolute bargain.

Wonderful, thank you for the information and link. It will give a me better idea of what I should be looking for.

As mentioned above the difference between a full roller and bunk trailer can be about £1000. From experience of selling big trailers like this they are very rare, and do command a premium. I would be quite happy to pay £2k for a 3000kg capacity trailer with rollers and in good condition. Check the brakes, cables and bearings, a replacement set could be £500 without fitting.

Thanks Mark,

Still not sure if it's a purchase I should make yet or not. I suppose it would enable me to take the boat to other waters to cruise but I'd have to buy a car that would be able to pull it first lol.

Or for low cost hard-stand storage.....enable the vessel to be moved to workshops?!

I sold a full roller trailer for a similar boat a few years ago and the phone never stopped ringing, peeps were fighting over it, advertised it too cheap at £1450 I think but got the asking price within hours. If you find a good one under £2K with rollers just buy it you will have no problem selling it, I wouldn't bother with bunk traliers at that size of boat though too much hassle.
