Had a 1990 model 190 back in 1992 (more or less the same) with a 170hp Volvo. Perfectly OK as first boat. Performed well, trailed it from Hampshire to Salcombe OK. SWMBO and I slept on it for a week at a time, although it was a bit lacking in creature comforts.

Build standard lacking in attention to detail - electrics, cockpit furnishings, mild steel screws!!!!

We enjoyed it enough to move onwards and upwards.

Here it is:

we had a 1987 one with the AQ151, great first boat, we trailed it from the midlands to loch lomond and various river trips before we moved to the coast.

Our only gripe was the engine, it convinced us diesel was the way to go but if you make sure it is well looked after and kept in good order it should treat you well. Seemed to go pretty well with the 151 but needed the trim tabs to keep it level.

As has been said the finnishing was a little light in places but only the cosmetic stuff, we relined the interior in white vinyl and she looked the business.

i had the 19 weekender for 5 years, brilliant first boat. Had merc engine a drive - no problems. Boat was plenty quick enough and had brilliant feature which many others this size and budget dont have, eg bathing platform, usable cabin, decent canopy, usable cooking etc, plenty of stowage. For the money, a brilliant 19-20ft. Not much else top touch them in my opinion.

We had a 1990 Sealine 195 - Great starter boat and the finish was fine. Travelled down to Dartmouth from Southampton for a 10 day holiday, wife reckoned if was like sleeping under the stairs but we were younger then and didn't have kids. We stopped off on the way back in Poole, someone asked where we were based, Hythe I replied, they said we were very brave to come that far, decided it was best not to say that we were on the way back from Dartmouth.
