I am about to reseal the windows on my boat. What is the best way to remove old sealant? Is acetone successful or will it damage the grp. What about others such as white spirit, thinners etc.

The use of solvents were it is not necessary only adds to the mess. If you get acetone on the windows goodbye windows. I would personally pick the stuff off, less messy non toxic and much safer. While you are picking you can dream of a south westerly force 3 and a hot summers day, we can all dream.

Agree. Use a sharp thin blade and cut the seal as close to the deck as possible. The remainder you can shave off with a razor. Did that for the seal on four hatches stuff come off in no time.

Apply Sealant to window and wipe with rag soaked in white spirit this leaves nice clean smooth finish and no sealant to remove afterwards.

There is a product called Silicone Eater Screwfix sells it and it works fine
