Sealant in drilled holes on teak deck?

Hi, I am about to install some tables in the cockpit with a pedestal and wonder if I need to use marine sealant (or any sealant you would recommend) to the base as well as filling the holes first with sealant before screwing it inBasically, in what situation do i use sealant and what type.

When I installed my countersunk pedestal holder, I ran a ring of marine sealant around the edge of the hole before inserting the plate. Then one plate aligned with screw holes I filled the screw holes too. This way nothing leaks down through the deck. I can't remember what sealant I used, but it was from force4 and in a white and blue tube if that helps!!

Partly it depends on the deck structure. If it has a wooden core the you should overdrill a hole and fill with thickened epoxy and the drill the correct size hole. If the deck is solid epoxy then you could just drill. In either case I, personally, would use butyl tape to line the base of the pedestal and also around the screw heads.
