Does anyone know the original equipment manufacturer for the vacuum switches fitted into Sealand vac systems.
I know the part number and I know that you can buy them from the various parts suppliers.
But £100 to £140 seems VERY expensive for a simple switch.

I've stripped down a couple of mine cleaned and refitted them but last month, I fitted a new one and I think I will need to fit new ones on the other toilet systems.
There is no urgency but it must be possible to source the original part.

My "duck bills" have, so far, been reliable - a few hickups but so far they have always cleared themselves.
I've got some spare "duck bills" - I know those are expensive too but not quite as eye watering as the pressure switches.

I looked around when I needed one but was unable to locate any OEM versions, I wonder if it is a custom made part. If you could find one you would still need to calibrate it to make sure it to cut in at the correct pressure (not technically difficult but would require rigging a gauge up etc), where as the sealand one comes set at the correct setting for their system.

I bit the bullet and bought the genuine part from Seacoast Services in the US (I have a US mailbox and combine shipments on to me), as I couldn't find it much cheaper elsewhere and have always had good service from them. It was worth it just to not have to keep reminding guests to turn the toilet off each time they used it to stop the pump running all the time.

Does your actually leak, or is it just out of tolerance and need adjusting? The diaphram leaked on mine, its a shame they dont just sell that part as a spare.

Having now replaced all duck bills, the bowl seals and cartridge, the pressure switch, and the pump diaphpram (I can only presume the previous owner used a bucket instead of fixing any of it), I am hoping for at least a few seasons of not having to put on the rubber gloves...

All mine are working at the moment - I replaced one last month.
When I've stripped them down, I didn't actually re-calibrate it.
Just set the screw so that a light movement of the diaphragm would trip the switch.
That process seemed to work.

As you say, if only we could buy the diaphragm piece as a part.
I'm would have thought that Sealand/Dometic would have bought those parts in themselves.
The parts should only be a few quid instead of over £100 for a new complete switch.
 
Sorry I don't know. I'm v familiar with the part having had vacuflush 2004-2009 but I never found the OEM supplier to Dometic

If JW is a keeper you perhaps ought to think about refitting her with Tecma or Planus. Then you can chuck away those vacuum generators, which are mounted in pretty inaccessible places. The T series pumps on your vac generators can be used as black tank emptying pumps
 
I'm also looking for parts on my Sealand system. I was blown away by the cost of the service pack of seals etc. Over £200. I have developed a problem with the water not switching off after a flush. Is there such a thing as a service manual / parts diagram knocking about on the web? I haven't found anything I can use and am reluctant to take it apart without some guidance. I think I have the 506 unit based on looks but can't be 100% sure.

How difficult do you think it would be to retrofit (say) Tecma?

M, I don't think that would be difficult at all, because Tecma WCs are completely integrated WC/pump/macerator units.
Otoh, even if 100 to 140 quids is outrageous for that switch alone, it's bound to be still much less than the cost of a full Tecma WC+installation.
Though I can't give you any reliable/updated numbers for that, sorry.

Yep - I'm sure you are correct.
Just a thought though.
A quick google showed a rough guide to prices.

As JFM says, these Sealand Vac Units are very inaccessible.
However, we have now learned how to get to them - bit complex - involves dismantling the stairs.
Initially that was difficult but now that we know ho to do it we can be in there in 5 mins or so.
So, it probably doesn't make economical sense to change them.
I already have spares and a few more vacuum switches would see me right.
Probably just got yo "bite the bullet" and order some more from "rip off" Sealand.
 
Yup, despite the poor reputation of CR on here in relation to recon Volvo parts (on which I know nothing) they are an excellent supplier of other types of spares. Delivery is fast, they have stuff you won't find anywhere else, and they are helpful if there is any misunderstanding or the part is wrong (i.e. fast refund or whatever). I've bought loads of surplus Fairline liquidator stuff through them and am very pleased with it all. I'd suggest it is worth a look at their site once every few weeks if you are a hands on boater like many on here

I was going to add to my post earlier this year.

I was so keen to order after reading your post that I didn't notice they had two of them.
So I phoned them.
Very helpful and they did an actual check. Then I paid the extra - they insisted that there would only be 1 delivery charge.
Really helpful and effecient.
