Got the fright of my life-moored at hampton court and hanging out cleaning the side of my boat when a seal popped up next to me-nearly joined him in the drink!
Won't a salt water crittur die in fresh water? Or at least get rapid and chronic osmosis?

I dont think they are too bothered by fresh water. There are a few that traverse the sluice at Boston and spend a lot of time on the non tidal Witham. One of them is very friendly and spends a lot of time sunbathing on the banks.
Is the lack of food but I am sure it gets fed bread by those feeding the ducks, which probably does not do it much good.
I am sure seals can live on roach just as well as mackerel!
