I keep my 10m Beneteau yacht in an East Coast tidal marina. For about the last 10 years, I have used Seajet Shogun antifouling. Typically, by the end of the season the hull has a layer of slime, with a few barnacles where the bottom of the keel has sat in the mud at LWS. This year, there was so much weed growth between March launch and July that I had a mid-season scrub for the first time ever (see photos). Marina neighbours using different antifouling (and using their boats much less) have little growth, even now. Another marina neighbour, also using Shogun (a different colour), has had more weed growth than ever before.
It would appear that the formula of the antifouling was changed last year, along with the packaging. Until last year, there was always a heavy sediment in the can which had to be stirred in before application. For the last two years, there has been no appreciable sediment.
The UK supplier, Marine & Industrial, have (unsurprisingly) not been at all helpful beyond saying that they had no other reported problems with that batch.
Has anyone else had similar experience with Seajet Shogun over the last two years?

I use the same, but normally have a diver scrub off 4 times but this year that hasn't been possible. I had a late June scrub at Shotley which was highly necessary. The last few weeks has been bad, obviously due to fouling. Gladys came out today and I missed her pre-pressure wash, but the detritus under the boat shows she was bad... I'll be asking around about what others adjacent to me have used.

We used Cruiser Uno after a YBW test came out as a good product…

I would call it Uno Grow More for its plant supporting capabilities. Within a week we had a slime and last week I had to do a floating scrub. True the stuff came off very easily, but without a physical scrub it would have stopped us dead in the water.

Photos will follow when we come out.

The water in your location must be full of nutrients. Where are you moored?

Ive used Cruiser Uno for a few seasons, currently the EU new version. There is more growth with the new stuff but there always was a fair bit.You need to use the boat regularly so the paint erodes taking the weed with it.I find scrubbing it mid season removes most of the paint.

Scrubbing eroding antifoul is rather pointless, not to mention expensive. I've never done mid-season scrubs, if it needs doing, you're using the wrong grade of antifoul, or not putting enough on.
Indeed.Thats what I meant.
Using the boat removes most of the crap.

I've been using Shogun 033 for some years and found it fairly good.
Last year it was "OK"
This season we spent many weeks in Holland, much of the time in fresh or brackish water, so came back to the Crouch with a fairly clean bottom in late August. Within 3 weeks we had weed and brown gunge so had the yard scrub her. Now 3 weeks later very bad weed again. Perhaps it's being on a swinging mooring on the Crouch making it worse.

Spoken by someone who is fortunate enough not to be in West Mersea! which is a mega high fouling area. This year I used one of the most expensive available (Ocean Performer) and had to have a mid season re coat, applying two full coats and three on the waterline. Launched mid July. Had to be scrubbed last week.

Nothing works. I've tried them all. Coppercoat, Seajet, EU45, Cruiser Uno, Flag. They're all just about useless. Ocean Performer so far is the best of a bad bunch.

I have been using Jotun Seaqueen for quite a few years with very good results. i dried out 2 weeks ago after 5 months in the water, i need to check something so not there for a scrub. very little slime on the hull, only down to about 2 ft from the WL.& no fouling on the keel, the rudder had a light slime.

Fambridge...
As to the so called self erroding, it doesn't work at 15 knots...

Patches of slime and grass were still sticking to the hull after a real blast so there is no chance if you are only doing six kts ... mostly because the hull is soooooo weedy....
