Hi all, I have just posted off my Seago lifejacket because of the safety recall. I was just wondering if anyone here has already had theirs replaced / returned......if yes, how long did it take?

Bit late for you now dukes, but better to phone Seago and fix to swap them out at a chandlery. saves the post and the dely, but thay don't pubilicise that arrangement.
I phoned Monday and swapped them over on F4's doorstep on Tues am

Force 4 swapped mine out immediately for me in Poole. No wait and 2 nice new jackets.

I imagine there is going to be a delay posting them back direct to Seago due to volume of returns.

I posted mine the same day I heard of the recall, last wednesday wasn't it? And I got a replacement on Friday! But I suspect I was one on the first. I was going to buy two more when I found out about the recall, so immediately posted it off but the person who was going to supply the new Seago ones now has now no stock as Seago are hanging on to their stock to send off as replacements.

Phoned them and they promised about 2 days from receipt. Posted them on Monday so hopefully (optimistic) tomorrow :-)

Whats the deal with postage costs?

That's a good question.......I did question this in the letter I included with my lifejacket, it'll be interesting to see what they say (if anything). I also included a subtle 'hint' about needing a crutch strap for the lifejacket.........well, if you don't ask /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
Thanks for all the replies, it looks like they are turning things around quite quickly............let's hope they have plenty of replacements in stock.
Does anyone know what exactly this recall is about (faulty valve or dodgy seams/bladders)?

Sent mine off yesterday, and realised in the process that they are in Hailsham..where SWMBO works two days a week..so I suggested to them that SWMBO can pick em up if contacted beforehand.

Crotch straps will be nice /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just seen this! Can someone point me to the details of this recall please? I bought two earlier this year and would like to be sure they are OK...

If you go to the Home page of YBW, you will see a reference to the story and if you click on it it gives the production codes that need inspecting. Just check the codes against your jackets. Mine are 01/06 for example. If in doubt give SEAGO a ring. The number is on the home page link

None of us is quite sure what the suspected fault is, and I'm guessing that most will be OK. Thats what usually happens

Some will start to deflate after about 24hours; could be the valve or where the blow up pipe connects to the air tube. Assume that this doesn't satisfy safety standard EN376 and hence the recall.

Seago contacted me, here in mallorca, after an email asking about postage cost.
They told me to manually inflate the life jackets and if they were still inflated after 24 hours they were not in the faulty batch.
they reckon less than 1% sold are faulty..

seemed genuine enough, but if any one fancy's a MOB test with one let me know.....

regards
Roy

As promised, my 3 new jackets arrived back by courier Friday, good service, considering I only posted the old ones at 4pm Monday.

got my replacement on monday,7 working days after posting in Portmarnock,Co.Dublin. They gave me a175 fully auto + crotch straps+ gaz bottle. The one I sent was manual + no gaz bottle.I am well pleased.Well done I am a satisfied customer and will buy their product again.

We got ours back on Monday too - although they said Thursday so a few days late.

We sent back auto with harness and got back auto with harness plus crotch straps.

At least they are trying their best to resolve the situation - fair play to them, and good customer service whenever I have spoken with them.
