SeaFire FM200 automatic extinguisher replacement options

As per the title really - any good suggestions for the old FM200 SeaFire auto extinguisher?
It's still showing pressure and correct weight with no corrosion, but as we will be visiting several countries that don't like out of date safety equipment and FM200 we think it should be replaced.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. google is only coming up with new Seafire or Fireboy options.

I carry a foam extinguisher, the nozzle can be poked through finger hole in engine bay door or, used anywhere else on the boat.

If the cylinder is in good condition, weighs correctly and the the pressure gauge is clearly in the green, can they be “recertified”. Our fire extinguishers at work are inspected annually and get a new sticky label.

Our boat ones have to be inspected and certified annually and I often wonder if they just put a new sticker on.

I spoke to the SeaFire folks in Portsmouth recently as my FM200 FD750 is coming up for it's second ten year cylinder pressure test. Like you mine is in good condition & holds pressure so I will get it done next year.

They said no problen, no specific max age depends on passing test & condition. Last time it cost around £300 so obviously will be more now.

There are quite a few auto extinguishers on the market, but none have the pressure switch that can shut down the engine and ventillation fans.

After quite bit of research , there are really only the two options that have this switch and only the SeaFire seems to be available in the UK.
I've contacted them and currently wating for a quote to either service/re certify the FM200 or replace with a new clean agent alternative.
Apparently the cyclinder has to be hydrostatically tested every 5 years, but why it costs so much I've no idea. My scuba tanks hydro test is c.£100 and that is at 230 bar.
I guess it is because it says "boat" or "marine" on the label somewhere :-(

Will add a final comment once I get the quote and decide which route to go

Agree, We've found a local company that can do our foam extinguishers for £10 each, so not to horrific. But I'm sure it's just a new sticker, but if it keeps the insurance comapnies happy.......

We have 5 foam extinguishers (one per cabin) and 2 firesticks placed at convenient locations so also have the option of squirting them into the engine room.
But like the idea of an auto system...
