Seafarer Simplex

Seafarer depth echo sounder

I think the Simplex is a completely different animal than the 701, unfortunately. Thanks very much for the reply.

Jim.

Hi Jim,

I have a manual (read: Installation and Operating Instructions) "Seafarer Simplex Depth Echo Sounder". ( model 1985 with round scale 'depth' and 2 pot.meters in front, size 115x115 mm)
Is the discribed model the right one? If so, please let me know and if you want I will scan it for you. (in that case, please send your email adress)

regards, Ernie

Hi, it would be nice if you could also forward the manual scan to me. I juts purchases a Dehlya 22 in Austria and it had the Seafarer Simplex and Transducer installed. It turns on but I don't know how to use it. Regards, Marcus from Heidelberg

Hi Marcus,
I see that you are responding to a 10 year old thread so you may not get a reply from Clouseau. If you don't get a reply, and your depth sounder is the one shown on the left hand side of the attached photo, let me know and I will scan my copy of the Installation and Operating Instructions. The Instructions include an internal wiring diagram which could be useful if your unit has any faults.

Wow, thanks very much for your help. Yes, this is exactly my unit. I could not figure out how to send a direct message to you so here is my email address: marcus @ 4xb.de

Its great to re-use old equipment and i plan to do a lot of 3d printing and electronics work for spare parts and to get circuits running again. Looking forward to more discussions like this in this forum.

Hi Steve,

Could I please trouble you with a similar request for a copy of your instructions for the Seafarer Simplex depth sounder (image attached of the one fitted to my boat.)

What I'm trying to assertain is can I use the transponder which is connected to the Seafarer, with a modern NASA gauge. I'm told if they use the same frequency, it should be possible.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Kind regards

Nigel

Hi Nigel,

I use my old Seafarer transducer with a NASA Clipper sounder and it works fine, so I assume that all the NASA sounders would do the same. I contacted NASA before buying the Clipper and found them to be very helpful.

If you still want a copy of the Seafarer instructions please send me a PM with your email address.

Steve

As a new user I don't think he can do a PM until @nmiller100 has done quite a few more posts.
